Binge-Listen Much? 13 Black Podcasts You’ve Been Missing Out On…
Myself included.
I would like to think we all binge-watch in this day and age. There’s too much black girl magic and black boy joy coming out of the woodwork not to. Still, I have to ask… is binge-listening a thing yet? I’m really trying to get into podcasts, but how do you find the time to listen for hours on end?
The first series I actually made time for is Myleik Teele’s ‘My Taught You Podcast.’ Myleik is the CEO and Founder of Curlbox. Her topics range from several aspects of business, budgeting, and overall self-help. The podcast began in 2011. Some months ago, I started from the beginning and worked my way down. I’m currently on her set of 2016 episodes and the goal is to be caught up before the new year.
Another podcast I’ve recently decided to binge from beginning to end is, ‘The Read’. The show features personalities, Kid Fury and Crissle. I became a fan of Kid Fury from his earlier videos on Youtube. Somewhere down the line Fury and Crissle befriended one another. They each moved to New York and ultimately, ‘The Read’ came about.
Their podcast covers pop culture, Q&A from fans and each individual’s read they may have for the week. Some episodes feature guest appearances as well. The die-hard BeyoncΓ© stans have even made their show live and hosted a few tours. Their epic reads have also led them to make appearances on Charlamagne tha God‘s talk show, ‘Uncommon Sense’ on MTV 2.
My Taught You and The Read are definitely worth binging, but lets not overlook the other black voices we can lend an ear to. I did my googles and compiled this list of series that have been recognized throughout the innanets and are worth the listen.
