Deep Conditioning: 8 Heating Options to Choose From…
I’m working towards better haircare in 2018. I’ve been natural for almost 8 years now. Bay-bee when I tell you I have lost my way. Initially the routine was to wash my hair once a week and deep condition every two weeks. Needless to say, I fell off. Hard.
Deep conditioning prevents damage, promotes elasticity, and keeps your hair moisturized. You can deep condition from anywhere between 15-30 minutes. I deep condition for at least 45 minutes to an hour.Using heat while deep conditioning is essential, because it helps to penetrate the hair shafts. I’ve listed a few different heating methods you can try. It doesn’t matter which one you use as long as you get it done.
Plastic Shower Cap
Yeah, you can get these offline, but they’re also available at any beauty supply store and dollar tree. Save where you can.
Plastic Grocery Sack
Don’t front like you ain’t got 50-11 grocery bags stored in a cabinet somewhere in the kitchen.
Soft Bonnet Dryer
I had one of these, but it broke. The plug melted somehow, so I would be cautious with this one.
Huetiful Hair Steamer
Love! Love! Love! I’m not sure if these are still available. When you click the link there isn’t an option to purchase. I bought mine long, long, long… LONG time ago! *Bernie Mac Voice* … Rest in Power, Meechie.
Hot Head Thermal Haircare
I’m currently using this option. I just need to find some more durable plastic caps, because they seem to come apart before I can even fully secure the cap on my head.
Hooded Hair Dryer
You see Laila, but I use the Gold N Hot brand.
Conditioning Heat Cap
I haven’t used this, but I’ve been seeing it lately on the Innanets. I wish I had found it before that defective soft bonnet dryer.
Soft Bonnet Attachment
I haven’t used this either, but it seems very convenient and it’s inexpensive. Just hook it up to a blow dryer and you’re good to go.
