Lupie Chronicles: The Armpit Cleanse…
There’s no secret that I have Lupus. So, with this illness comes a few complications when not managed properly. Hell, complications appear even if I am managing it.
At the top of the year I noticed the lymph nodes near my neck were and still are swollen. Initially, I thought it could be allergens from my new dog I received for Christmas. That’s still kinda up for debate, because when he first arrived my nose became runny and I sneezed a lot for some time.
When the swelling became more noticeable and developed in my arm pits, I told my doctor about it. They ran some tests and came to the conclusion that the cause could either be the Lupus or Cancer. Why folks always wanna give you Cancer tho? They performed a biopsy and took some samples of my lymph nodes. I had an upper endoscopy some weeks later. They didn’t find anything and one of the doctors suggested a colonoscopy for the hell of it, but I was like, ‘Nah, Dawg.’
Of course, when the conventional medicine doesn’t work I take the holistic route. I decided to search and see if there was such a thing as an armpit cleanse. Google didn’t disappoint.
The benefits of an armpit cleanse:
-Rids build-up of toxins in the skin.
-May reduce volume and odor of sweat.
-Reduces irritation.
-Boosts the immune system.
-Decreases the risk of Cancer.
-Improves lymphatic function and reduces illness.
One thing that contributes to even considering an armpit cleanse in the first place is deodorant. Certain side effects from the use of most deodorants are the added chemicals like aluminum, phthalates, formaldehyde, parabens and even pesticides.
These harmful chemicals can cause :
-Hormone disruption
-Cancer
-Alzheimer’s
-Antibiotic resistant bacteria
-Allergies and skin irritation
-Weight gain
-Inflammatory responses
-Thyroid dysfunction.
So, What’s up wit dat armpit cleanse?
The cleanse only requires 3 ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon bentonite clay
- 1 teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar
- water as needed
Directions:
- Mix the clay and vinegar with enough water to achieve a paste-like consistency.
- Spread the mixture on each armpit. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Rinse it off. Dry armpits thoroughly.
*If you feel any pain once you apply the paste, rinse it off immediately. A tingling or warm sensation is normal.
Drinking plenty of water and a healthy diet contributes as well. Blah! Blah! Blah! *sigh*
I already have the bentonite clay. I just need to stock up on some ACV and my little experiment shall begin. Stick around for an update.
In the meantime if you just wanna give up on regular deodorant altogether, this is a cute little read or whatever.
